Metro by T-Mobile comes to Walmart with plans starting at just $40 per month

Starting today, there’s a new carrier option available at your local Walmart as Metro by T-Mobile has arrived at more than 2,000 Walmart locations. This is just one facet of T-Mobile’s plans to expand its reach to more users, as the carrier also intends to make its services available at select Walmart stores.

Metro was formerly known as MetroPCS, before being purchased and rebranded by T-Mobile. Since then, it’s grown in popularity, and this latest injection into various Walmart locations aims to only add more users.

Currently, there are three plans offered by Metro, starting at $40 per month and including access to T-Mobile’s 5G network, T-Mobile Tuesdays, and Scam-blocking protection. If you bump up to the $50 per month plan, you’ll also get 5GB of hotspot data along with 100GB of Google One storage included. Then, the top-tier plan comes in at $60 per month with 15GB of hotspot data and 100GB of Google One storage.

The list of devices being offered is a bit scarce, as we are only currently seeing the following options:

  • Metro Revvl V – $79
  • Samsung A02 – $119
  • Samsung A12 – $149
  • OnePlus Nord N200 – $189
  • Moto G Stylus 5G – $219

But the nice thing about Metro by T-Mobile is that you can also bring your own (compatible) device, and just pick up a BYOD SIM Kit, pried at just $9.88. Once the new SIM is installed, you simply need to activate your phone and select the plan that you wish to join. Those who want to select one of the offered devices, will enjoy a $60 instant discount when purchasing a new device and a service plan.

So you could grab a new phone for as low as $59 with the Revvl V and the $40 per month plan. The only “catch” is that in order to take advantage of this savings, you’ll actually need to go into your local Walmart as you can’t currently get the deal when checking out online.
