At the end of August, Fitbit finally took the wraps off of its latest fitness tracker with the Fitbit Charge 5. This came after a few leaks pretty much spoiled the party ahead of time, but if you’ve been waiting to upgrade from your current fitness tracker, the time is here.
Starting today, you can head into your local big box stores, or just hit Amazon, and pick up the Fitbit Charge 5 for yourself. The Charge 5 comes in three different color combinations, Graphite / Black, Platinum / Steel Blue, and Gold / Lunar White, and is jam-packed with more health and fitness tracking features than you might think.
In addition to the traditional fitness tracking metrics, the Charge 5 is equipped with an SpO2 (blood oxygen) sensor, heart rate variability sensor skin temperature sensor, and more. The built-in GPS will help keep track of your distance, providing a map of the workout route from within the app.
Other features of Fitbit’s latest tracker include 50m water resistance, up to seven days of battery life, and a 1.04-inch color OLED display. This move is a welcome one, after we’ve had years of the greyscale display on the Charge series. So bringing the updated panel along with the other health sensors makes for a powerful and wonderful combination.
Pricing for the Fitbit Charge 5 comes in at $180, regardless of which color option you end up selecting. But when you purchase the Charge 5, Fitbit is including six months of Fitbit Premium. With this, you’ll be provided with advanced analytics, guided programs, and much more. Plus, the company has announced that starting today, it will be including content from Calm, which is one of the most popular apps for mediation and relaxation.
