Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 2 are now available for everyone and are pretty intriguing for those who don’t want to dip into the “high-end” of the headphones market. With the Buds 2, Samsung introduced ANC, Ambient Sound, and a unique “machine learning-based solution” to filter out those annoying background noises. And right before the new earbuds were released, Samsung pushed an update to add double-tap gestures along with being able to customize the ANC levels per earbud.
Thankfully, Samsung hasn’t forgotten those who jumped on the Galaxy Buds Pro when they were released earlier this year. A new update arriving in the Galaxy Buds Pro Plugin (via XDA Developers) is bringing some of the features included with the Galaxy Buds 2. Here’s the full changelog from the Play Store listing:
- “Ambient sound” is now available during calls as well.
- Added a “Noise controls” feature.
- Added a “Noise controls with one earbud” feature.
- Added a “Customize ambient sound” feature.
Considering that the Buds Pro is the most expensive current offering from Samsung, it makes sense to see these features arrive. However, it’s still comforting to see Samsung push a big update like this, especially shortly after the release of an alternative set of earbuds.
Having an “all-or-nothing” approach for ANC is fine for the most part, but it’s definitely much nicer to have the option to adjust the intensity. Plus, you’ll also now be able to hear your surroundings even if you’re on a phone call, so you can keep an ear on what’s going on around you even if you’re a bit preoccupied.
The update carries a version number of R190XXU0AUH5, and is rolling out to owners of the Galaxy Buds Pro. In order to update, you’ll need to open the Galaxy Wearable app, navigate to the update section for your headphones, and check for an update.
