It’s still expensive to repair a broken Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Z Flip 3 screen

Now that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are arriving on doorsteps, there is one question that might remain before making your decision. Just how much is it going to cost to fix the display if something goes awry? Speaking to The Verge, Samsung confirmed that fixing the inner 7.6-inch display of the Fold 3 will cost a whopping $479, and the Z Flip 3’s 6.7-inch display will cost $369.

It’s important to note that these are the out-of-warranty prices for screen repairs, but it’s unlikely that you’ll have to pay that within your first year of ownership. That’s because Samsung offers a one-year warranty for both devices, so you shouldn’t have to worry about forking out even more if your screen is broken. Samsung also points out the pricing for the cover displays, as the Fold 3 will set you back $149 and the Flip 3 comes in at just $99.

If you’re on the fence about deciding whether you should spring for Samsung Care+, it might end up being worth it for these two phones. At just $12.99 per month, if you happen to break your screen after the one-year warranty expires, the deductible for the screen repair drops to $249. Having the peace of mind that you won’t have to doll out another $500 if your screen breaks is something that can’t be understated, plus, Samsung is offering a 12-month Samsung Care+ subscription for free if you pre-order either of its latest foldable phones.

Surprisingly, these prices are cheaper than what Samsung charges for out-of-warranty repairs for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Z Flip 5G. According to Samsung’s website, you’ll be looking at about $550 for the Z Fold 2, while the Flip 5G comes in at $499.

And unlike the old days of iPhone repair where you could just buy a screen yourself and do the repair with relative ease, that’s just not something you should consider here. Not only are there are a lot of different parts to deal with when it comes to taking these devices apart, but the introduction of an IPX8 rating adds even more difficulty to the process.

So if you want to make sure that your Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Z Flip 3 are covered, grab a case and sign up for Samsung Care+.
