One additional feature not listed here for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the planned S Pen support. Samsung is rumored to be announcing two different S Pen models, including one designed specifically for foldable phones like the Z Fold 3. We’re also expecting to see a new case for the Z Fold 3 that makes it simple to house the S Pen when not in use. It wouldn’t come as a surprise if Samsung offered this as a bundle, similar to what we saw when the Galaxy S21 Ultra was released.

In addition to bringing IPX8 water resistance, Samsung has also updated the durability of the displays used on the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. According to this report from WinFuture, Samsung supposedly will be rating these screens for up to 200,000 open/close cycles. This is the equivalent to opening the phone 100 times per day for five years.

It’s decisions and implementations like this that Samsung needs to make in order to try and take foldable phones into the main stream.

Samsung Unpacked is set to kick off at 10 AM ET on Wednesday, August 11th. In addition to these two phones, we’re expecting to see the Galaxy Watch 4 series and Galaxy Buds 2 unveiled.
