Yesterday we saw the first real-world images of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, as someone was able to get their hands on the earbuds a bit early and shared some early impressions. Now, we’re getting a look at our first unboxing of the upcoming earbuds courtesy of The Mobile Central.
In the video, there’s not much shown off that we didn’t already know. However, the video shows off what’s in the box, along with the pairing process (kind of) and some initial impressions. On the back of the packaging, we can see that these have “2-way speakers”, Active Noise Cancelling, a “comfortable fit” and offer up to 20 hours of play time.
When the host attempts to go through the initial setup process, he has a bit of a difficult time. This is because the Galaxy Wearable app has yet to be updated with support for these unannounced earbuds. But recent leaks suggest that the pairing process will be a bit more difficult than in years past, as Samsung could be moving away from the simple one-tap pairing approach.
Once the earbuds are paired, you will be able to go through and customize various aspect including touch controls, along with being able to switch between ANC and the Ambient Sound mode. Perhaps the more surprising aspect of the Buds 2 is the included ANC. We’re not expecting to be on pair with the Sony WF-1000XM4s or even the Galaxy Buds Pro, but it’s still a nice touch.
Previous leaks point to the Galaxy Buds 2 offering an IPX7 water resistance rating, along with a Bluetooth 5.2 chip, a dual-driver setup, and USB-C for charging. You’ll also likely be able to enjoy Qi wireless charging, as the case looks pretty similar to that of the Galaxy Buds Pro and Buds Live. These upcoming earbuds are expected to be available in four different colors, while being priced at around $150-$180.
Samsung Unpacked kicks off next Wednesday (8/11) where the Buds 2 are likely to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3, and Galaxy Watch 4.
