Bluetti’s EB70 ensures you’ll always have power no matter where you are

0

Camping is all about roughing it outdoors and being one with nature, otherwise, if you’re looking for a more relaxed experience, you might as well go to a hotel. But who’s to say you can’t have an outdoor experience without a few creature comforts at the same time? Why can’t you be camping but also have access to an electric cooker, a space heater, or being able to charge your phones, tablets, or laptops?

This is where solar generators or power stations can come in handy. With these devices being able to put out considerably more power than your average power bank (actually, all of them),  these might be a better solution for your next camping trip rather than that teeny tiny power bank. If you’re going to go all out, a power station’s one way to do it, and Bluetti’s EB70 could be just what the doctor ordered.

The Bluetti EB70 is a power station that pretty much does what most power stations can do, although it does have some unique features that some might appreciate.

Power just about anything

While there are power stations that are smaller and offer less power output, there is a reason why you might want something a bit more powerful. This is because power stations that can’t output that much power will be limited to the type of devices it can power up.

The Bluetti EB70 features a 716Wh battery and a rated power output of 700W. This will allow the power station to power your mobile devices like phones and tablets, but also devices that might need a bit more power like laptops, or if you really want to crank things up, an electric cooker and a space heater, perfect for taking with you on outdoor trips or if there is a power outage.

Because of the higher power output, it might actually be better suited for times when you need emergency power, and sometimes smaller power stations might not be able to cut it in case you need to turn on something that might need a bit more juice.

The EB70 also packs a battery that the company claims is good for at least 2,500 charge cycles before its battery max capacity hits 80%.

Mobile energy

In addition to being able to juice up larger appliances and electronics, the  EB70 is also perfect for keeping your phones and tablets charged up. The power station comes with USB-A and USB-C ports, meaning that both legacy and more modern day devices can benefit from it.

It also comes with a wireless charger built into it, so if you have a phone or tablet that supports wireless charging, you can use that instead and free up one of the USB ports for something else.

Charging the EB70 is also pretty easy and straightforward. You have your standard methods of charging like connecting it to a wall outlet, but if you’re outdoors, you can attach solar panels to it for a more “green” experience, or use a gas-powered generator, or even your car.

Design

The Bluetti EB70 is designed to be rather simple and straightforward. There is a small built-in display that shows you how much battery you have left, as well as how much input and output power is being used/generated.

We have to say that the inclusion of a LED light on the power station itself is also pretty handy because you can use it to illuminate an area or double up as a flashlight if you really need it.

The company is offering the EB70 in a striking red finish or teal, with the latter giving us vintage refrigerator vibes, which is not a bad thing. There is also a handle built into the top of the power station that will make carrying it around easier.

Real-world testing

To see if the Bluetti EB70 lived up to its spec sheet, we are it through our standardized testing that we apply to all solar generators that pass through our office to give us a better idea of who the EB70 will perform in day-to-day use.

The 200W charging speed offered by this device isn’t the fastest within its category, but it was enough to deliver a full charge to the 716Wh battery in 4 hours and 1 minute. The inverter is capable of handling up to 700W on a continuous load and we tested it up to 1300W for a peak power surge without any issues. That being said, the EB70’s inverter wasn’t capable of delivering enough Amps to switch on the compressor on our windows unit air conditioner, a task the Jackery 1500 handles without any issues.

When it comes to using the 716Wh capacity built into the EB70, we were able to draw a total of 550Wh through the inverter, resulting in a 76.8% efficiency rating. Based on our testing with similar devices, this falls within the typically 75-79% averages we have seen over the past few years. As expected, using the EB70’s DC outlets results in much better results, delivering a total of 632Wh or 88.2% of the internal capacity.

Conclusion

The Bluetti EB70 is only of the most versatile solar generators you can but for under $600. The combination of ports, 100W Power Delivery over USB C, wireless charging and an inverter that can deliver up to 700W continuous output is a whole lot more than what any of the competitors are offering at this price point. It’s not quite capable enough to power your power tools or an AC unit, but it’s more than enough to keep your family’s devices charged up over a long weekend camping trip or it the power goes out at your house.

That being said, if you want the best that Bluetti has to offer, we suggest checking out the Bluetti AC200P.
