Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 rumored to let you use Google Assistant over Bixby

We’re a whole eight days away from Samsung Unpacked and the rumors and leaks just keep rolling in. The latest of which has to do with the Galaxy Watch 4 and the ability to opt for Google Assistant over Samsung’s Bixby. According to a tweet by leaker @_snoopytech_, Samsung will let you make the choice for yourself.

This really may not come as too much of a surprise given that Samsung and Google are working together on Wear OS 3. However, to see Samsung actually begin allowing for more Google integration is an example of the kind of changes we were hoping for.

Bixby has never really been all that reliable or useful, and despite Samsung’s best efforts, many still opt to disable Bixby Voice on their Samsung phones. And even if these rumors come to fruition, don’t be surprised if Bixby is enabled as the default when the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic are released.

But building Assistant integration into the wearable OS is a much better solution than having to download the Amazon Alexa app. This means that it will likely run much faster than previous models, while giving you access to the best of Google Assistant, right from your wrist.

Samsung Unpacked will take place on August 11th at 10 AM ET. Along with the new smartwatch models, Samsung is likely to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and the Galaxy Buds 2. With a little more than a week to go don’t be surprised if there are more leaks made available ahead of the event.
