Last week, OnePlus made a surprising announcement when they confirmed the existence of an upcoming accessory – the OnePlus Buds Pro. In fact, the company not only confirmed it, but it seemed as though they were looking for people to test it out ahead of its launch. Unfortunately, apart from that, not much else is known about the earbuds.
Now according to the latest updates, one of the “Pro” features we can expect from the earbuds is what OnePlus is calling “adaptive noise cancellation”. Typically we hear about “active noise cancellation” in which headphones/earphones use microphones to listen out for external noise and then emit a frequency to cancel it.
This is versus passive noise cancellation which relies on the headphones or earphones sealing the noise in. With “adaptive noise cancellation”, it is similar to active noise cancellation, although OnePlus says that it will counter frequencies “intelligently”. Apparently the earbuds will be smart enough where it can decide for itself exactly how much noise cancelling is needed.
We’re not sure if this will be better than active noise cancellation since we’ve yet to try it out, but it sounds promising. The earbuds are expected to be officially announced and detailed on the 22nd of July, so check back with us next week for the official updates.
