Infinix wants to change the way you are presented notifications with its Concept Phone

0

Over the years, we’ve seen different companies show off their “concept” phones, with Xiaomi likely being the first company to come to mind. And while things have died down a bit in recent years, Infinix is looking to pick things right back up as the company showed off the Infinix Concept Phone 2021.

Have you ever wanted a phone that would let you know when a phone call was coming in, or a notification had arrived while your phone was face down on a table? With something like the Mi 11 Ultra, this would be possible thanks to the rear-facing mini display, but Infinix is taking a different approach. The Concept Phone 2021 uses a combination of “electrochromic and electroluminescent technology to create the industry’s first dual color-changing back cover”. Essentially, whenever a phone call comes in, the Concept Phone 2021 will change colors from silver and light blue. If you’re charging, the back will change color with a pulsating circle in the middle to give you an idea of how much juice is left.

This is a concept phone that we can definitely get behind because we love seeing companies push the limits of what’s possible for a smartphone. Instead of opting for foldable displays or anything of that sort, Infinix is taking a different approach. In addition to this new color-changing back cover, the Concept Phone 2021 also attempts to push the limits of charging speeds.

Recently, Xiaomi unveiled its HyperCharge technology that can take a 4,000mAh battery from 0-100% in just 8 minutes when using a wire, or 15 minutes if charging wirelessly. The Infinix Concept Phone 2021 doesn’t exactly meet those speeds, but it comes damn close. The 160W wired charging will get you back up to 100% in 10 minutes, while also using 50W fast wireless charging speeds. Since it seems that we have reached the limits of battery size for flagship devices, as not very many reach 5,000mAh, let alone go beyond that, phone makers are setting their sights on faster charging.

So what other specs does the Infinix Concept Phone 2021 have under its belt? There’s a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with an 88-degree curve around the side edges. It’s powered by the MediaTek Helio G95 chipset, which is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. There’s a 32MP selfie camera on the front, along with a triple camera setup on the back. This is headlined by a 64MP wide-angle sensor to go along with an 8MP ultrawide and 8MP telephoto lens.

If you’re intrigued by this, remember, it’s just a concept phone that Infinix is using to show off what could arrive on future handsets. This means you likely won’t be able to get your hands on one for a while. Hopefully, that awesome color-changing back cover will come to a phone sooner rather than later, along with the 160W fast charging speeds.
