ASUS announced their gaming smartphone, the ROG Phone 5, earlier this year. The initial launch of the handset was in Europe and ASUS did not confirm if there were plans to eventually bring it stateside. The good news is that if you’ve been eyeing the phone, you’ll be pleased to hear that ASUS has finally made it available in the US.
Now for those who might have missed or forgotten about our earlier coverage, there are three variants of the ROG Phone 5, but the model that is currently being sold in the US will be the base model. Don’t be too disappointed because even though it is the base model in the lineup, it still packs pretty amazing specs.
This includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, up to 16GB of RAM, a 6,000mAh battery (which is two 3,000mAh batteries combined), up to 256GB of storage, support for 65W fast charging, a triple camera setup on the back that consists of a 64MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide sensor, and a 5MP macro.
The phone also comes with a 24Mp front-facing shooter, a 3.5mm headphone jack with HyperStream II Quad-DAC, Air Triggers 5, and support for both side and bottom mounted USB-C ports. It will be priced at $1,000 and is available for purchase directly from ASUS.
