OnePlus pushes May Security update to OnePlus 8 with plenty of bug fixes

0

For better or worse, OnePlus seems to have been more focused on updating its (much) older devices, leaving the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro feeling forgotten. Fear not, as OxygenOS 11.0.6.6 is rolling out to owners of both devices starting today, beginning with India and coming to the EU and North America “soon”.

Along with including the May security patch, this update to OxygenOS also has a slew of bug fixes in-tow. Some of which were rather concerning, such as the inability to properly save pictures to the gallery, or the call page not appearing while being on a phone call.

As it usually does, OnePlus provided everyone with a complete changelog for this update via the OnePlus Forums:

  • System
    • Improved the wireless charging stability and user experience
    • Improved the smoothness while sliding on the home screen
    • Fixed the screenshot capturing failure from the accessibility menu
    • Fixed the low probability issue that the low battery notification not working
    • Updated Android security patch to 2021.05
  • Gallery
    • Fixed the occasional issue that newly captured photos were not saved as expected
    • Fixed the abnormal UI display in Guest Mode
  • Phone
    • Fixed the occasional issue of opening up the contact card failure
    • Fixed the issue that the calling page is not displayed during a call
  • Messages
    • Fixed the occasional failure to edit a message
  • Network
    • Improved network performance

We’re less than a week away from the beginning of June and OnePlus’ 2020 flagships are just now getting the May patch. Of course, there was a lot more going on this time around, but it’s better late than never, I guess. As stated the update is rolling out today to owners of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro in India, while other regions should see the update in the coming days and weeks.

Let us know if the update arrived on your OnePlus 8, and if the update actually fixed any of the issues, or if they are still peristing.
