Amazon finally updates the Fire HD 10 tablet with better specs and more options

It’s been about two years since we’ve seen a major update come to Amazon’s Fire HD 10 line of tablets, but the wait is finally over. The company has completely overhauled its 10-inch tablet lineup as of today, by introducing a slew of new options ranging from the Fire HD 10 and Fire HD 10 Plus, to a new Fire Kids Pro series of tablets.

Starting with the Fire HD 10, we have the same 10-inch HD display with a 1024 x 600 resolution, along with an unnamed octa-core processor and “50% more RAM”. The design has been slightly tweaked across all of the new models to provide slightly slimmer bezels and the matte finish that is found on the Fire 7 and HD 8 tablets.

The standard Fire HD 10 is equipped with 3GB of RAM, along with either 32GB or 64GB of expandable storage (up to 1TB via microSD), while coming in four different colors. Amazon states that battery life is rated for up to 12-hours on a single charge, and then you’ll be able to juice it back up with a 15W USB-C charger when the time comes. The base model Fire HD 10 is priced at $149.99 with ads, or you can bump up the storage for $189.99.

Moving up the list, we have the new Fire HD 10 Plus, which includes all of the same features of the standard Fire HD 10 but adds an extra GB of RAM. This provides 4GB total, along with the ability to be wirelessly charged instead of only relying on a USB-C cable for your charging needs. The soft-touch finish is also here, and pricing starts at $179.99 for the 32GB version or $219.99 for the 64GB model. Amazon is also offering a bundle that includes the Fire HD 10 Plus and a wireless charging dock for $219.99 or $259.99 depending on how much storage you want.

Amazon didn’t stop there, however, when it comes to the Fire HD 10, as there’s an all-new Fire HD 10 Productivity Bundle. In this bundle, you’ll get a Bluetooth keyboard case, and a 12-month Microsoft 365 personal subscription. It’s important to note that this bundle is for the standard Fire HD 10 and not the HD 10 Plus. Pricing starts at $219.99 for the 32GB model and goes up to $259.99 for 64GB of storage. With the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, you’ll get access to 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage, along with the ability to use Microsoft’s other services such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and others.

If you’re looking for the best tablet to give your kids, you would be hard-pressed to find a better option than Amazon’s Fire HD Kids series of tablets. But today, Amazon has introduced the new Fire Kids Pro series of tablets, ranging in size from 7-inches and going up to 10-inches. These new tablets provide a slightly better performance, along with including one year of Amazon Kids+, a case, and an all-new Digital Store with more parental controls than you thought you would need.

Amazon is sticking to its 2-year “worry-free warranty”, ensuring that you’ll easily be able to replace your Fire Kids Pro tablet in the event that disaster strikes. There are also two storage options available, either 32GB or 64GB, but this can be expanded via a microSD card up to 1TB if you want to take things offline but still let the kids watch some movies or TV shows.

Here’s a list of all of the new Amazon Fire Tablets announced:

All of these new Amazon Fire Tablets will be available starting on May 26th, but you can pre-order them all starting today.
