Over the past few months, we’ve been learning more and more about OnePlus’ 2021 flagship handset, the OnePlus 9 Pro. There have also been rumors about other potential OnePlus 9 devices that could be announced, and now, there is even more information about these devices.
According to a report by 91Mobiles, OnePlus will be debuting not one, not two, but three new smartphones at an event sometime in March. These devices will all be apart of the OnePlus 9 family, starting with the OnePlus 9R, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9 Pro. OnePlus isn’t stopping there, however, as the company is also slated to announce the company’s first smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch, at the same event.
One peculiar addition to this new report is the name for the previously-rumored OnePlus 9E. Instead of opting for the “E” or “Lite” moniker, it seems that OnePlus has changed course and will be going with the 9R. This will be OnePlus’ budget-friendly option, featuring the Snapdragon 690 chipset, along with 8GB of RAM, and a 64MP primary camera. The report also states that the 9R will feature a 6.5-inch FHD+ display which includes a 90Hz refresh rate, and a massive 5,000mAh battery.
As you might expect, the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro will be the company’s flagship options, with the OnePlus 9 said to feature the following specs:
Before you fret about OnePlus moving away from higher refresh rates in favor of saving some money, have no fear. The report from 91Mobiles states that both the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro will be equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate, along with 65W fast charging. As for those cameras, it seems that the rumors surrounding a OnePlus partnership with Hasselblad will be coming to fruition, as the cameras on the 9 and 9 Pro will be Hasselblad-branded. We aren’t sure exactly what that will look like, but here’s to hoping that we get a phenomenal camera experience that can rival that of the Galaxy S21 and Note 20 Ultra, out of the box.
By this point, you may be wondering about what details were shared in this report when it comes to the OnePlus Watch. Unfortunately, there’s nothing to share, other than the fact that it will be announced at the event, and there’s a possibility of a ‘OnePlus Watch RX’ which would look similar to that of OPPO’s Watch RX. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, including whether it will be powered by Google’s Wear OS or not.
OnePlus is said to begin teasing the announcement sometime this week, meaning we could only be a couple of weeks away from the launch of the next flagship devices to be released in 2021. Let us know what you think about these rumors surrounding the OnePlus 9 lineup, and if you’re excited to see the company’s first smartwatch.
