Android 12 could make it even easier to share your WiFi password
They say that you should never reuse the same passwords, but at the same time, given that there are so many different passwords and combinations to remember, many of us are guilty of recycling our passwords, including the ones we use for our WiFi networks.
If you’d like to avoid potentially revealing your WiFi passwords to people who come to your home or office, then Android 12 might have a feature that could be worth looking forward to. According to a report from XDA Developers, they have discovered a potential new WiFi sharing feature in Android 12 that will take advantage of Android’s Nearby Share.
This means users can quickly share their WiFi passwords with other Android users who have Nearby Share enabled. This is versus other methods of WiFi sharing such as creating a QR code, which can be troublesome if there are multiple people you need to share it with at the same time.
This feature was discovered in a new commit submitted to AOSP. As XDA notes, the commit hasn’t been merged yet which suggests that it might not necessarily find its way to Android 12. Either way, it’s something we’ll be keeping an eye on as it sounds like a pretty good quality of life update to have.
