Earlier this week, it was revealed that ZTE will be announcing a new smartphone in the form of the ZTE Axon A20 5G that could possibly be the world’s first 5G smartphone that features an under-display front-facing camera. Now the company has shared a teaser video that gives us a hint as to what the phone could look like.
In the 15 second teaser video (see below), it shows a smartphone without a notch, a hole-punch cutout, or a popup camera. Instead, what we have been given is a beautiful-looking smartphone display that is unmarred by these workarounds. While the teaser does not divulge the specs of the phone, here’s what we know so far.
The ZTE Axon A20 5G is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 765G chipset, meaning that a mid-range phone will be getting this feature ahead of all the flagships. Also with the use of the Snapdragon 765G, it will be 5G capable. The display of the phone is said to measure 6.92-inches and will sport a 1080p resolution, with the front-facing camera said to be of the 32MP variety.
While the specs seem rather standard and aren’t particularly exciting, what we are excited about is the under-display camera. Previously, some handset makers said that there were certain technological hurdles involved in trying to put a camera under the display, so it will be interesting to see if ZTE has managed to accomplish what others have yet to do.
