Google Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5 5G tipped for September launch

Earlier this month, Google announced their latest smartphone in the form of the Google Pixel 4a. Following the announcement, Google also confirmed that they would have more handsets incoming, like a 5G version of the Pixel 4a and also the Pixel 5, although it does beg the question of when will these phones launch?

Last we heard, Google might have accidentally confirmed the launch on their French blog where it mentions October as a possibility, although a new tweet by leakster Jon Prosser is suggesting otherwise. According to Prosser’s tweet, he claims that the Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5 5G will be launching on the 30th of September.

It is possible that Google’s blog and Prosser’s claims are both accurate, where Google could actually announce the phones at the end of September, but only release them in October. This would make both Google and Prosser correct. Prosser also claims that the white version of the Pixel 4a 5G might be released later, possibly in October.

According to the rumors, Google could also be skipping the Pixel 5 XL this year, instead opting for a smaller Pixel 5. It has also been suggested that the Pixel phones this year might not sport flagship hardware, presumably with Google hoping to keep costs down and make the phones more affordable.

Either way, this is something we’ll just have to wait and see for ourselves, so in the meantime it might be a good idea to just take these claims with a grain of salt.
