Motorola phone with curved “waterfall” 90Hz display in the works

Phones with curved displays aren’t exactly new. Samsung kind of popularized the feature which has since been adopted by other smartphone makers, and now it looks like Motorola could finally be hopping on board that trend.

Motorola back in 2019 was not particularly productive, but this year seems to be the company’s year as not only have they released their first foldable smartphone, the Motorola Razr, but now a report from XDA Developers has revealed the existence of yet another smartphone by the company that sports a very pronounced curved display that is also rumored to have a refresh rate of 90Hz.

Like we said, curved displays aren’t exactly new, but this would be a first for the company and based on the leaked images (which are kind of blurry), it shows how the display curves and wraps around the sides of the phone. We’re not sure if Motorola intends to leverage the curved edges similar to what Samsung did in the past, or if it is for purely aesthetic purposes.

In addition, the leaked photos also reveal that the phone will sport a small hole-punch at the top left corner of the display which presumably houses the front-facing camera. There is no word on what kind of specs we might be able to expect from this device, but given its design, which seems flagship-worthy, we wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset.

Needless to say that this should be taken with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we’ll have more details come MWC 2020 which takes place later this month.
