Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL is launching today and cheaper than expected.

The Google Pixel 4 and Google Pixel 4 XL will be announced later today and while there is not much left to the imagination regarding the phone itself we are still left guessing on price. It had been rumoured that the Pixel will release with a price tag of £$€1000+ but the latest slip ups from retailers and loose lips at the carrier partners are suggesting that Google are going south with price.

Thanks to the kind folks at MediaMarkt’s error in Germany we see the initial product placeholder pricing at just 749€ in Europe with the Pixel 4 XL expected to be 100€ more expensive. A “carrier source” in the US speaking to DroidLife said, the Google Pixel 4 will start at $799 (roughly £630 GBP), while the Pixel 4 XL will start at $899 (around £710 GBP).

If true, we’ll be witness to a launch from a big player, without a significant price increase from the previous year. Which is is both refreshing and shows Google’s determination to make the Pixel the attractive choice for pure Android users.

Will this low entry pricing entice you to pocket a Pixel 4 or 4 XL at day zero?? Or will you be waiting for the inevitable sales at the start of 2020? – I have to admit I’m getting my credit card ready.
