Mario Kart Tour was officially announced back in 2018 and after more than a year of the game being announced, as promised, it looks like the game has been officially launched on Android. Gamers who are fans of the franchise will be able to download it for free through the Google Play Store.
In case you’re learning about this for the first time, Mario Kart Tour is basically the mobile version of Mario Kart. Granted, it isn’t exactly the same as Mario Kart on the Nintendo DS or the Nintendo Switch as it will feature slightly different controls and gameplay, but at its core, it is still very much a racing game.
Gamers will be able to play against each other and will still be able to deploy traps and weapons to slow down their opponents. There will also be some new modes and maps that will be exclusive to the mobile version of the game, such as race courses based on real-world cities, a new Frenzy mode, and also additional challenges where players can go against souped up AI.
Mario Kart Tour is free to play, but as expected, there will be in-app purchases where you’ll be able to purchase additional items, although you don’t have to if you don’t want to.
