Samsung has cancelled all Galaxy Fold pre-orders ahead of its relaunch

Earlier this year when the Samsung Galaxy Fold’s relaunch was delayed, Samsung had actually sent out emails to customers who had pre-ordered the phone directly from the company, asking if they wanted to keep waiting or to cancel their pre-orders. If you chose to keep waiting, it looks like the decision has been made for you anyway.

According to a smattering of reports, it looks like Samsung has taken it upon themselves to cancel all Galaxy Fold pre-orders. The company has sent out emails to those who had originally pre-ordered it and were still holding onto their pre-orders, informing them that their pre-orders had been cancelled as the company wanted to “rethink” the entire customer experience. The email reads (in part):

“Ensuring that you have the best possible experience with this revolutionary new technology is our top priority. We are taking the time to rethink the entire customer experience—from purchase to unboxing, to post-purchase service—so in the meantime, we have, regrettably, decided to cancel your existing pre-order. While not an easy decision to make, we believe that this is the right thing to do.”

The good news is that if you were affected by the cancellation, Samsung will be giving you $250 in store credit that you can presumably use towards your next purchase, which should help knock the price down a bit and make it slightly more affordable.

Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Fold will be released on the 6th of September in South Korea, but did not mention any US dates, although we have heard that a US launch could be planned for the 27th of September.
