OnePlus CEO promises their next phone will be cheaper

OnePlus has always been known for creating affordable smartphones, but when the company announced the OnePlus 7 Pro, it was their most expensive smartphone to date. The company has raised their prices over the years and we suppose it made sense, but if you were yearning for the good old days of cheap(er) OnePlus phones, you could be in luck.

Speaking to CNET in an interview, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau revealed that for the company’s next smartphone, presumably the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro, they will be making it more affordable than the OnePlus 7 Pro. Lau declined to mention exactly how much cheaper it will be, but to give you some context, the OnePlus 7 Pro is priced starting at $669.

Lau also confirmed that the company’s next smartphone will continue to use the 90Hz display, so if you were hoping to see it bumped up to a 120Hz display, you might be disappointed.

“OnePlus was the first in the industry to use a QHD Plus 90Hz AMOLED screen with the ultrapremium OnePlus 7 Pro. The overwhelming positive feedback pushed us to bring 90Hz, which we believe will become standard on flagship phones, to our highly acclaimed premium lineup so that more people can experience the smooth scrolling display.”

OnePlus has yet to officially confirm when the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro will be officially announced, but last we heard, it could possibly be announced on the 26th of September.
