A few days ago, Google officially released the Android 10 update which would be making its way to the company’s Pixel phones first. This seemed like good news as the update was a major one that comes with a ton of new features, changes, and improvements to the Android operating system.
Unfortunately, it seems that the update is also coming with its fair share of problems. According to a bunch of user complaints on the Google product forums, it seems that some Pixel owners who have updated their phones have run into issues where their devices were stuck on the boot screen.
This means that during the entire duration, they are unable to use their devices. Some users claim that their phones were stuck for 30 minutes, while some experienced extended delays where it finally stopped booting after 6 hours. It doesn’t seem to be device specific as Pixel owners across the entire portfolio are reporting similar issues.
The good news is that there are ways to fix this problem. One of those ways is to boot your phone into recovery mode, then look for “Reboot system now”, and your phone should be reset to Android 9.0 Pie. Alternatively, you could also try sideloading Android 10 instead of using the OTA update method.
Not all Pixel users are affected by this problem so your mileage may vary. We’re not sure what is causing the problem as Google has yet to officially comment, but if you are a Pixel owner, maybe holding off on updating for now might not be the worst idea.
