Following the release of the Android Pie update for Samsung’s 2017 smartphone lineup on T-Mobile and Sprint, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 and S8+ on Verizon will be receiving the same update starting today! With all of Samsung’s old smartphones finally getting the Android 9 update, the latest Android build on Google’s quarterly Android distribution chart should finally show some progress.
The Android Pie updates for the three Samsung phones on Verizon should be about 1.5 GB in size and will bundle the latest version of Android with the March Security Patch. While Andoird 9 does come with quite a few new features, the biggest change that most people will notice is the inclusion of Samsung’s One UI which gives the interface on the phone a completely new look. Samsung has never been known for having great software, but we’re actually quite impressed with One UI and user-centric tweaks that have been made with it which actually make using large-screen phones more enjoyable.
Verizon will gradually be releasing the update to its devices in batches, starting later today. Those who don’t want to wait around for an update notification can always try pinging Verizon’s update servers manually by going to Settings > Software Update > Download updates manually. It doesn’t always work, but it feels better than just waiting around.
Let us know when you receive your Android Pie update on your Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 or S8+.
