Verizon’s free robocall blocker is now rolling out to customers
In January earlier this year, Verizon announced that they will be introducing a robocall blocking feature to its customers for free. For those who think that they might be able to appreciate the feature, you might be happy to learn that Verizon has announced that the feature is now rolling out to customers.
The Call Filter feature will be available for free to all postpaid wireless customers. The free service will notify customers when a call is most likely to be spam, the ability to report unsolicited numbers, and can also automatically block robocalls based on their preferred level of risk. Verizon has also announced that there will be an enhanced call protection service that will cost $2.99 a month per line for those who might need more robust features.
According to Ronan Dunne, president of Verizon’s consumer unit:
“Each and every day, our team is looking for new and improved ways to identify and block spam calls. As we recently mentioned, we’re putting malicious robocalling operations on notice. We’re not going to tolerate their activities and we’re aggressively taking steps to stop them. Our customers want these enhancements and we fully intend to deliver.”
As it stands there are various ways of going about blocking spam calls and text messages (you can check out our guide here), such as through third-party apps and services. More recently it had also been reported that Google could be looking to beef up Android’s spam call detection feature, where users could soon be able to filter out calls from unknown numbers, calls made from pay phones, and so on.
