We already know that Motorola is building a folding phone, but the details are sparse. We have already seen a design thanks to an image the company shared with the World Intellectual Property Organization, and it sure looks exciting.
It looks a lot like the Razr that started a worldwide craze, but the inside is going to be all display with a crease in it. Rumors say it’ll also be cheaper than the competition at around $1500 as well as smaller.
A new logo for the device has leaked, and the newly leaked specs give us a potential insight on the future device. It will allegedly feature a 6.2-inch 876×2142 display inside as well as a 600×800 display on the outside, though the size of this screen is not known. Under the hood are a Snapdragon 710, 4 or 6GB of RAM, 64 or 128GB of storage, and a 2,730mAh battery. This battery seems oddly small for the device.
For $1500, the specs don’t exactly seem fantastic, but since folding display tech is still new this may be Motorola’s way of getting the price down and making the device accessible to more people. The smaller form factor is definitely exciting, and the fact that you’ll mostly be using the device in its full unfolded state gives it a lot more potential value than the competition.
The device is set to come in black, white and gold and will launch on the Verizon network, though not much else is known. Nonetheless fans of the original RAZR should be hyped. I know I am.
