Samsung’s customizable gestures app hits the Google Play Store

As displays get taller, the ability to use Android smartphones with one-hand became mostly impossible. The removal of the hardware navigation buttons further compounded this problem, which saw Google introduce a gesture-based system with Android Pie. This still used a dedicated back button but it rumored to disappear entirely in Android Q.

While we wait for the next version of Android to drop, Samsung decided to do its own thing by swiping up from the bottom of the panel. The company allows further gesture customization that improves the one-handed operation of your device, which is appropriately named One Hand Operation+ app and just got pushed to the Google Play Store.

With the One Hand Operation+ app, you can assign swiping gestures to specific keys or functions to improve the usability of your device without the need to reach across the display. The currently available functions are as follows, with Samsung promising more are coming soon:

• Home key
• Recent key
• Menu key
• Previous app
• Forward ( web browser )
• Open notification panel
• Open quick panel
• Screen off
• Assistance app
• Screenshot
• Floating navigation buttons
• Pull screen down
• One-handed mode
• Task switcher 

Various settings are available within the app to personalize your gesture experience to fit what you prefer. With the app now being pushed to the Google Play Store, it should help keep it updated in a timely manner being standalone.

One Hand Operation+ is exclusive to Samsung, but similar functionality is in an app called Edge Gestures if gestures are your thing.
