OPPO unveils the F11 Pro with a pop-up camera, confirming the notch is dead
We’ve seen teases from OPPO that suggested the company was abandoning the notch in favor of a pop-up camera and the launch of the F11 Pro has finally confirmed it.
The notch always seemed like a temporary solution to house the front-facing camera in order to achieve a full-screen display and the OPPO F11 Pro offers an alternative solution. It’s not the first time we’ve seen a pop-up front-facing camera and allows the company to pack a 6.53-inch 1080p screen into a chassis with minimal bezels.
The main focus for OPPO F11 Pro is the huge 48-Megapixel rear-facing camera that is paired with a 5-Megapixel depth sensor. The pop-up camera is subtlely different from what we’ve seen before, including in the leaks of the OnePlus 7, as it is mounted in the center of the top that rises from the rear camera housing.
OPPO also announced the F11, which has the same rear camera setup but replaces the pop-up camera in favor of a waterdrop notch. Both phones are powered by a 4,000mAh battery and strangely have a micro USB charging port instead of USB Type-C.
The F11 Pro with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage will retail for Rs. 24,990, roughly $350. The F11 with a waterproof notch and 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will sell for Rs. 19,990, or around $280. The devices will hit India first and will be released in other regions at a later date.
