Interested in getting in on Google Fi? If you are, you might be interested to learn that Google has announced that starting from today, Google Fi SIM cards will be available for purchase directly from Best Buy. This is in addition to the previous method of signing up for Google Fi which was through their website.
Is there an advantage to purchasing Google Fi through Best Buy instead of Google? Previously Google would require users to sign up online and send the SIM cards to them through the mail which can be a bit slow, so if for whatever reason you need to have Google Fi right now, then heading to your local Best Buy is probably the fastest way to do so.
The SIM cards will be priced at $9.99 and according to Google, customers who purchase it through Best Buy will also be getting a $10 credit to their phone bill, so that’s another perk of going to Best Buy to get your hands on it. We should point out that Best Buy will only be carrying the Talk & Text service of Google Fi, so for those who want to get Google Fi for the data-only SIM, you will still need to go through Google’s website for that.
Also it seems that Best Buy will not be helping customers with their activation which means that you’ll need to figure out how to do that yourself, although thankfully Google’s support page does a pretty good job of helping users activate their SIM cards. In the meantime if you’d like to check whether your phone supports Google Fi, you can check for device compatibility via the Google Fi website.
