This could be our first look at the LG G8

LG is said to be working on a new flagship in the form of the LG G8. The phone does not have a specific launch date yet, but with MWC 2019 kicking off next month, it’s probably not a stretch to imagine that the phone could be launched then. However, we might not have to wait too long to see what the phone could look like.

91mobiles and @OnLeaks have shared renders of what the phone could look like. If these renders are accurate, we certainly aren’t impressed. The design of the phone itself isn’t bad, but it’s not terribly exciting either where it actually seems to have “borrowed” some design elements from Apple’s iPhones, what with the notch and visible antenna bands. The chin at the bottom of the phone also appears to be pretty big.

Based on the renders, it doesn’t seem to corroborate with what we had heard previously, which was that it could sport a waterdrop-shaped notch. The renders also suggest that the phone might be packing a dual lens camera and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, meaning that LG might not be one of the smartphone makers who will be utilizing in-display fingerprint sensors.

There was an earlier rumor that did claim that the phone might use a sound-on display, but that’s a bit hard to tell from these renders. Other alleged features include the use of a USB-C port, the retaining of the 3.5mm headphone jack, and a dedicated button that will most likely launch Google Assistant. Apart from that, this is pretty much as standard as far as smartphones come.
