5G smartphones sound like they would be good. A phone that can connect to the fastest possible mobile internet network, who wouldn’t want that? There have been some concerns expressed in the past about despite how 5G will be the next standard in mobile connectivity, being an early adopter might not be the best thing.
This is because not only will 5G smartphones be more expensive (OnePlus did warn that its 5G smartphone could be slightly more pricey), but there is also the question of how much 5G will affect battery life. The latter has yet to be determined, but the former is starting to look very much like reality, according to a report from Korea who claims that Samsung’s 5G enabled Galaxy S10 could be priced around the $1,500 mark.
The handset is apparently being dubbed the Galaxy S10 X and will be launching in Korea first late March, which will be shortly after the regular versions of the Galaxy S10 has been released. They also claim that the phone could be priced anywhere between 1.6 million and 1.8 million won.
However the premium that customers will be paying won’t be just for 5G, but also for some of the alleged specs of the phone. Instead of using three rear-facing cameras, the Galaxy S10 X could pack a quadruple camera setup at the back, and two in the front. It is also said to feature a massive 6.7-inch AMOLED display, 10GB of RAM, and a sizeable 5,000mAh battery.
Are those specs and features worth the premium in price? That will be up to you to decide, but until we get the official word, take it with a grain of salt. The Samsung Galaxy S10 and Samsung’s foldable phone are both expected to be officially announced on the 20th of February, 2019.
