Samsung Galaxy Note 8 reportedly received Android 8.0 Oreo in France

0

By far the biggest question on the minds of Galaxy Note 8 users is when they’ll be receiving the big Android 8.0 Oreo software update. We know the Galaxy S8 and S8+ recently began receiving Oreo which makes sense seeing as how they launched earlier in 2017.

So what about the Note 8? Samsung already mentioned in a support doc that the Galaxy Note 8 was targeting a March 30th release in Turkey, but it looks like some users have gotten it a bit early.

A Note 8 user in France claims to have recently received an update to Android 8.0 on his device. For proof, he posted a screenshot of the phone’s software information that appears to show a non-beta release for Android 8.0 Oreo. Everything appears to check out, with the screenshot also showing Samsung Experience 9.0 and the latest March security update.

It’s possible we could be looking at a very small staged rollout while they monitor for bugs or other unforeseen issues. Even then, we still haven’t heard anything on US timing with no ETA on that front.

These sorts of things usually take a bit longer to hit the US as they have to undergo extensive carrier testing before being pushed out on networks like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile or Sprint.

If nothing else, this just shows you that some progress has been made, even if it will be weeks/months before we see this land stateside.
