With all the good news that is going around about Android P, there’s a bit of sad news for some particular smartphone owners. Those who own the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and the Pixel C tablet won’t be getting Android P in any official capacity.
This is because those devices have reached the end of Google’s 2-year support window for major OS updates. It’s a sad occurrence, but if you’re still holding onto those devices it isn’t instantly obsolete:
- It’ll still get security patches and critical fixes at least through November.
- You will likely be able to get your new course of desserts in unofficial capacity through community builds.
If you’re not into rooting and installing ROMs, though, this is Google’s warning shot to you that’ll need to get something a little more current if you want to keep going with updates.
