Samsung officially files trademark for “DeX Pad” ahead of Galaxy S9 announcement

Early in December, there were rumors that Samsung was working on an all-new version of the Samsung DeX Dock, and now there is a little bit more confirmation of this new accessory. Samsung has filed an official trademark for the “DeX Pad” at the end of December, just in time for the new year.

The previous rumors claim that the new DeX Pad will be a wireless dock, meaning that you won’t need any cables if you want to use your Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus as a desktop computer. This includes the video output and will be taking advantage of the wireless charging capabilities to make all of this happen.

Unfortunately, there’s not much information about how all of this will work, however, here’s the official explanation of the DeX Pad from the trademark application:

Application software for projecting the screen of mobile device to displays via computer peripheral devices and wireless networks; Computer peripheral devices; Computer software for wireless network communications; Computer software for controlling user interface mode adaption; Computer software for use in computer access control.

While we are expecting to see the DeX Pad announced alongside the upcoming Galaxy S9, there’s no mention of the price, but we can expect a price tag of around $149.99. This falls in line with the original DeX Dock, but this new version should be pretty awesome and unique.
