Samsung’s upcoming Chromebook will not only feature a detachable keyboard, but 13MP camera as well
New code references in Chromium Gerrit have seemingly confirmed that the “Nautilus” is a high-powered Chromebook from Samsung. The 2-in-1 Chromebook with feature a detachable keyboard for added utility and come powered by a 7th-generation Intel processor.
Last week we learned the detachable Chromebook would feature a stowable stylus, similar to the Samsung Chromebook Pro and Plus that launched last year. Newly discovered code references now suggest the device will also feature a 13MP, Sony IMX258 camera sensor. It’s the same Sony imaging chip found on flagship smartphones like the LG G6 and features a 1/3.06-inch sensor with 1.1-micron pixels which, if true, would be the highest resolution camera to be found on a Chromebook — ever.
Of course, software plays a big role in how well a device can capture a photo. Samsung has some experience in this area, with their Android devices capable of taking some pretty great photos. We’re not sure what they have planned for the Nautilus, but the device is seemingly in good hands.
Last year, Samsung unveiled two Chromebooks at CES 2017, so it’s possible we could at the very least see the Nautilus making a debut next week as well.
