Because the world we live in is a scary place, it’s nice to know your phone isn’t being left behind when it comes to software support. Both Samsung and Verizon are doing their part, pushing out the latest Android security patches for the month of December to the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Galaxy Note 8.

Verizon has issued an update for the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and the Galaxy Note 8 to bring these devices up to the current December security patch. According to Verizon’s support pages, the Galaxy S8 will be updated to software version NRD90M.G950USQS2BQL1, the Galaxy S8+ to NRD90M.G955USQS2BQL1, and the Galaxy Note 8 to NMF26X.N950USQS2BQL5. There doesn’t appear to be any extra goodies tucked away in this update, nothing but the peace of mind in knowing your Android devices is protected from the latest exploits.

If you haven’t been prompted to update your device just yet, you can check for it manually by opening the Settings app and selecting Software update > Download updates manually.
