At Google I/O 2017, Google announced that a few OEM’s would be working on new Daydream-compatible VR headsets, but we have yet to really see any of these come to fruition. There have been rumors that HTC and Huawei would be releasing headsets, but there hasn’t been much to back that up.
Now, it seems that Lenovo will be joining the parade after a new report claims that the Lenovo Daydream headset will be called the Lenovo Mirage Solo with Daydream. This was revealed thanks to some FCC documents and also shared the model number of Lenovo VR-1541F, along with the fact that it will include a Daydream controller.
Unfortunately, outside of the name and model number, the only other information shared by the FCC documents is that the headset will include a 4,000mAh battery and Bluetooth 5.0. There’s not much mention of the design, nor do we have any idea when the Mirage Solo will finally be unveiled.
With events such as CES 2018 on the horizon, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see the Mirage Solo make an appearance at the event, even if it’s not officially released on the market. Additionally, since HTC has pulled its own Daydream headset to focus on the HTC Vive Focus, (no pun intended), Lenovo and Huawei may be the OEM’s actually releasing new Daydream headsets in the near future.
Let us know whether you are interested to see what Lenovo has been working on, or if you’ll just stick with Google’s Daydream VR headset.
