As the end of the year is right around the corner, we are seeing more and more OEM’s update their devices to the latest version of Android. Over the last couple of weeks alone, we have seen the OnePlus 5, HTC U11 Life, Moto Z2 Force, and the LG V30 all be updated to Android Oreo.
Now, the Android One version of the Moto X4 is seeing the update after the confirmation was provided by the official Project Fi Twitter account. This was confirmed even further after a few users on Reddit stated that the update had arrived on their Moto X4’s.
Since this is practically a stock version of Android Oreo, there isn’t much else stated in the official changelog other than the fact that the update includes the December Android security update. This is great to see, as there are still other devices rocking the November security patch, or even older, depending on the device.
As a reminder, this update is “only” for Android 8.0 Oreo, and not the final version of Android 8.1, as that update just started rolling out to Pixel and Nexus devices earlier this month. This just means that you’ll be missing out on the updated hamburger emoji and the new AR stickers to celebrate Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Let us know when your Moto X4 begins receiving the update and be sure to give us a heads up if you run into any issues in the process.
