You can now follow specific hashtags on Instagram

Instagram is continuing to take things away from other social media platforms which allow you to share your favorite pictures and videos. Today, the company has announced the introduction of the ability to follow specific hashtags related to your interests and preferences.

Every day, millions of people share photos and videos and tag them with relevant hashtags. #onthetable#slime and #floralnails are just a few examples of hashtags that represent the many interests and passions of our community. To make these posts even more discoverable, we’re introducing hashtags you can follow.

The way that this will work is pretty simple, as it’s the same process as following anyone else’s Instagram account. Once you have decided to follow a specific hashtag, posts that fall in the category will begin showing up in your feed, just like you’re already used to.

This is great as you won’t have to worry about viewing a completely separate panel if you want to see what’s going on with a specific hashtag. It will just show up in your feed like normal, and you can add or delete hashtags as you continue to peruse Instagram.

Instagram has been working on this new functionality over the last few months, but has finally taken it out of the testing process. The latest update is now live in the Play Store, so hit the button below to download it. In the meantime, be sure to follow the official Phandroid Instgram account!
