Android 7.0 Nougat DSC00660

Android Nougat surprisingly comes to Moto X Pure Edition

Well, this was surprising. It seems that Motorola has been hard at work when it comes to the Android Nougat update for some devices (even if the company tried to weasel its way out of updating others). Owners of the Moto X Pure Edition (yeah, the one from 2014), are beginning to see an update to Android 7.0 Nougat.

When Nougat was announced, Motorola claimed that the Moto X Pure would be one of the devices updated with Nougat, but we weren’t holding our breath considering Motorola’s recent track record with updates. Almost a year later, and the X Pure is finally getting everything that Nougat has to offer on a device that had not seen even a security update in quite some time.

It’s important to note that the update “only” brings the device up to Android 7.0 Nougat, and not up to the latest version of Nougat at 7.1.1. But hey, at least an update has arrived, and the security update is the latest as it comes with the September 1st patch.

I’m not really sure how many folks are still rocking the Moto X Pure, I mean it’s 3 years old after all, but if you’ve received the update, be sure to sound off in the comments below and let us know.
