Way back at Mobile World Congress 2017, Sony announced its latest flagship device with the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. The device touts flagship specs, at a flagship price, but is currently not available through any carriers. This means that the only way to get the XZ Premium is to pay its “premium” price of $799.
Thankfully, Sony has quietly started dropping the price of the XZ Premium, and you can now snag it for $100 off from retailers such as Best Buy, B&H Photo, and Amazon. This may still be priced too high for some, as we are seeing the Galaxy S8 lineup priced as low as $575 for a device that’s a few months newer.
A few features that the XZ Premium does hold over newer flagships are its near-stock Android experience, 4K display, and stellar camera system. No, you won’t find a dual-lens setup here, but Sony’s cameras have been known to be reliable and provide excellent shots.
Regardless of that fact, if you’re a fan of Sony’s hardware and have been looking for a reason to upgrade, now may be the best time. Let us know what you think about the XZ Premium and if you’ll be picking one up.
