Despite that fact that LG’s “V” lineup of devices isn’t usually launched until the 2nd half of the year, we are starting to see more and more information regarding the LG V30. The rumors started all the way back in November, and have been slowly building over the last few months.
However, we have yet to really get a good look at what’s to come, until @evleaks (Evan Blass) gave us a “weekend bonus”. These early renders give us a look at what LG was considering for the LG V30. Gone is the secondary “ticker” display that we have been accustomed to seeing after it was launched with the LG V10.
Instead, these renders show off a secondary display that is placed at the bottom of the device and actually slides out to reveal a larger display. The first thing that I thought of when seeing this was a very slight similarity to the failed BlackBerry Priv. This was compounded after another render showed the keyboard to be made available through the secondary display.
If you were already displeased with these renders and are really hoping and wishing this doesn’t come to fruition, don’t get your pitchforks out just yet. Blass stated that this is an “old-ish mockup” and that it’s “not clear if the project is still headed in this direction.”
One more thing that I want to make note of with these renders is the camera that is found on the rear of the device. It seems that there is a total of 4 different sensors here, with one of these definitely being the flash. What I would like to know is what that 4th sensor is for, so maybe one of you can help me out with that.
Obviously, LG’s “V” series is turning into the experimental device, similar to what Samsung’s “Note” series did before the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus were launched. But I’m definitely more excited to see what’s to come from the V30, even if we’re still months away from an official announcement.
As for what else we’re expecting to see from the V30, the device is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 835, along with 6GB of RAM. We could also see a display that features a bezel-less design, similar to that of the LG G6.
Let us know what you think about these latest renders, and if you would be interested in seeing a device with a slide-out display released.
