Lenovo says their brand isn’t going anywhere

It was believed Lenovo would eventually look to roll all their mobile efforts under the Moto brand for their global strategy, but it seems they don’t like that idea. Reuters reports that the company is not looking to ditch their long-used name brand.

“We will never phase out Lenovo,” said Yang Yanquing, an officer for the company.

Of course, such a vague statement can be interpreted multiple ways. As you know, Lenovo’s brand is used in other products such as computers and accessories. They also made phones once upon a time, but it’s been so long that we’ve had a release from both the Lenovo and ZUK brands that you can’t help but wonder whether they have quietly positioned Moto (or Motorola again? We can’t keep up, dammit) as their new mobile king.

So, while Lenovo’s prideful stance on their name and brand remains technically accurate, we’re still bound to see Moto pushed as their top global smartphone brand for as long as folks are willing to buy it.
