So it seems that Google may be working on a third variant of the Pixel 2 which has a code name of “Taimen”. The Taimen Pixel 2 was initially rumored back in March and will be larger than the than the Pixel XL. For reference, the smaller Pixel 2 has been leaked with the codename of Muskie, while the Pixel 2 XL has the codename of Walleye.
We haven’t seen any information regarding this 3rd Pixel 2 device other than the initial rumors, but it seems that the device has shown up in Geekbench results. The results revealed the Taimen to be powered by the Snapdragon 835 clocked at 1.9GHz, while running Android O and including 4GB of RAM.
As for the actual benchmark results, the Taimen Pixel scored single-core score of 1804 and a multi-core score of 6248. These results aren’t nearly as impressive as the leaked Geekbench results for the OnePlus 5, as that device scored 1963 for its single-core score and 6687 for the multi-core score.
Naturally, we’ll have to take this with a grain of salt, but if Google is working on a larger device than the Pixel XL, then we’re in for a bunch of fun this fall. Let us know whether you would purchase a Pixel device that features a display larger than 5.5-inches?
