The Play Store gets a brand new icon with its latest update

0

The Google Play Store has seen many different iterations over the years, but the latest update adds a much needed to change the Play Store icon. Previously, the Play Button was nestled in a shopping bag, a throwback to the days of the Android Market.

With the update to version 7.8.16, the Play Store icon is now just the Play Button with no other effects added to it. However, that’s not the only change, as the notifications for installed or updated apps has also been changed to reflect the new icon.

It doesn’t seem like there’s much else that has been changed within the Play Store, but this is definitely a welcome addition. Android Police does state that the Play Store icon on Pixel devices remains unchanged and still looks like “the Google Play logo on a dinner plate”.

The update is rolling out to devices now, but if you don’t want to wait to get the new icon, you can hit the button below to download the update from APK Mirror.
