Sprint plans to bring its 5G network to its customers by late 2019

Whenever technology expands and is adopted by the world, companies look to the future to figure out what’s next. Well in the case of your cellular network, that next step is 5G network capabilities.

We’ve already heard about the fact that AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon are already in the process of testing 5G, but Sprint has been left out of the loop a bit. That was, until today. Sprint has revealed its plans to work with SoftBank and Qualcomm to have its 5G network ready to launch by late 2019.

However, the problem here is that there isn’t actually a spec for 5G and Verizon was one of the first to jump on board after a partnership with Samsung. We’re not saying that Sprint won’t be able to provide excellent 5G coverage (it can’t get much worse than LTE), but the company has a lot of work ahead of them.

Sprint also detailed that it plans to use its current 2.5GHz spectrum to help broadcast the 5G network once it’s up and running. The race to 5G will definitely be an interesting one, but don’t expect your current flagship smartphones to be able to handle the load, as new devices will need to be released.

Let us know what you think about 5G network capabilities and whether Sprint has a chance in this 4-horse race.
