Super Mario Run has almost passed the 150 million download milestone

0

Super Mario Run was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games until Android users learned that it would be limited to iOS only for a few months. Then Nintendo finally launched the game onto the Play Store and things have still been a bit rough.

However, Nintendo held a financial briefing Q&A where the company revealed its results of the past year. With Nintendo’s continued commitment to mobile games, there was a question to see how well Super Mario Run has been holding up since its launch.

The above tweet is the answer received from Nintendo as Super Mario Run has almost surpassed the 150 million download milestone. However, this isn’t all that surprising considering the fact that the game is free to play for the first few levels before being forced to pay $9.99 for the full version.

What is a bit surprising is when you throw Fire Emblem Heroes into the mix when comparing how much money Nintendo is making off of both games. Fire Emblem Heroes was launched back in February and seems to be making a respectable amount of more money than Super Mario Run. This is compounded when you consider the fact that FEH has 1/10 of the downloads of Super Mario Run.

It will be interesting to see how this affects Nintendo’s strategy for its future endeavors. The company also reiterated its commitment to releasing 2 or 3 mobile games every year, so it shouldn’t be too much longer before we see Nintendo’s latest game.
