Android 7.1.1 arrives today for Pixel and Nexus phones

0

The early days of each month have become exciting thanks to Google. We’re always guaranteed a security patch for Nexus and Pixel phones, and sometimes there may be minor goodies on the way, as well.

Such is the case today, with Android 7.1.1 now being spread to numerous Nexus devices and both the Pixel and Pixel XL. Those devices include the Pixel and Pixel XL, Pixel C tablet, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9 WiFi and LTE, and Nexus Player. Those on the Nexus 6 aren’t being stepped up to 7.1.1 unfortunately, but you do still get the December security patch.

Early indications are that this update delivers the same new features that Canadian handsets were fortunate enough to receive early, including tap-to-wake and lift-to-wake gestures.

Want to flash it? Factory images are here alongside instructions for getting it up and running. Otherwise, it shouldn’t take long to hit your handset. And those looking for specifics on the vulnerabilities being patched up for December can take a gander here.
