Samsung has already released the second beta version of Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. However, there were rumors that the company had started testing Nougat on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, and these rumors have seemingly been confirmed.
According to benchmark results from both GFXBench and Geekbench, there is at least one Galaxy S6 in the wild running Android 7.0 Nougat. This isn’t the absolute latest version of Android as that is reserved for the Pixel and Pixel L, but seeing Samsung give some love to its 2015 flagship devices is definitely a welcome sight.
It’s still unknown how far along in the development Samsung is, so we don’t know when users will begin seeing the Nougat update arrive. However, the update will hopefully bring Samsung’s new Grace UX interface and improve upon some of the quirks that folks had with TouchWiz.
