Google has started stocking a new line of cases at the Google Store — OtterBox! We don’t typically see that company’s wares added to Google’s online storefront, so it’s a bit of a first for both companies.
To be specific, Google is pushing OtterBox’s Defender series cases for both the Pixel and Pixel XL. The $50 ($60 for XL users) case adds a great deal of bulk to the phones, but what you’re getting is a tank of an enclosure for your device to ensure it doesn’t shatter when or if you ever drop it.
OtterBox defender cases offer 3 layers of protection:
- A built-in screen protector to protect the display.
- A soft inner shell with foam lining to absorb shock from drops.
- A hard outer shell to keep everything airtight.
The cases also feature a detachable holster clip if you don’t want to attach it to your belt like the hipsters in the 90s did. You can even remove or replace the screen protector if you prefer your own.
Some people may consider OtterBox Defender cases to be a bit much, but if you absolutely feel like you need a thick layer of protection (those with phone-loving kids might want to apply) then this is one of the best options out there. You can buy it straight from Google, or get it through Amazon, OtterBox, and even Verizon if you prefer.
